Beacon Terms of Service
Last updated: May 15, 2026
Beacon is not therapy, medical care, crisis support, or professional advice. If you are in immediate danger or may harm yourself or someone else, call your local emergency number. In the United States, call or text 988 for the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline.
1. Agreement to These Terms
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of Beacon, including the Beacon mobile app, website, support channels, community features, and related services (together, the "Service"). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy.
If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use Beacon.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old to use Beacon. If the law where you live requires a higher minimum age or parental consent for online services, you may use Beacon only if that requirement is met.
3. Your Account
You are responsible for keeping your account credentials secure and for activity that happens through your account. Tell us promptly at support@beaconcoach.app if you believe your account has been accessed without permission.
You agree to provide accurate account information and not to impersonate someone else.
4. What Beacon Does
Beacon helps users reflect on self-doubt, generate AI-assisted reframes, save progress, complete learning or practice challenges, and optionally participate in supportive community features.
Beacon is a self-reflection and education tool. It is not a substitute for therapy, diagnosis, treatment, professional mental health support, legal advice, financial advice, or emergency services.
5. AI Features and Limitations
Beacon uses AI to generate reframes, affirmations, pattern insights, and other supportive content. AI outputs may be inaccurate, incomplete, biased, inappropriate, or not suited to your circumstances. You are responsible for deciding whether and how to use any output.
Do not rely on Beacon for crisis intervention, medical decisions, employment decisions, legal decisions, financial decisions, or any decision where incorrect output could cause harm.
6. Your Content
"Your Content" means text, posts, thoughts, journal entries, reframes, challenge answers, messages, reports, feedback, and other information you submit to Beacon.
You keep ownership of Your Content. You give Beacon a limited license to host, store, process, transmit, display, analyze, and otherwise use Your Content as needed to operate, secure, moderate, and improve the Service, including to provide AI-generated outputs and progress features.
You are responsible for Your Content and for making sure you have the right to submit it.
7. Community Rules
Beacon's community features are intended for supportive, respectful sharing. You agree not to:
- Harass, threaten, abuse, exploit, or shame other users.
- Post hateful, discriminatory, sexually explicit, violent, or illegal content.
- Share another person's private information without permission.
- Encourage self-harm, suicide, eating disorders, abuse, or dangerous behavior.
- Use the Service for spam, scams, scraping, automation abuse, or security attacks.
- Misrepresent who you are or falsely claim professional credentials.
We may remove content, restrict features, suspend accounts, or contact appropriate authorities if we believe it is needed to protect users, enforce these Terms, or comply with law.
8. Anonymous Sharing
Beacon may allow you to share reframes or community content anonymously. Anonymous sharing means other users do not see your public account identity with that content. Beacon may still keep internal records linking the content to your account for moderation, reporting, abuse prevention, safety, and legal compliance.
9. Subscriptions and Payments
Some Beacon features may require a paid subscription. If subscriptions are enabled, purchases are processed by Apple through the App Store and subscription access may be managed through RevenueCat. Beacon does not receive your full payment card details.
Subscription pricing, renewal terms, cancellation, refunds, and billing issues are generally handled by Apple under App Store rules. You can manage or cancel App Store subscriptions in your Apple account settings.
Deleting your Beacon account does not automatically cancel an active App Store subscription. You must cancel the subscription separately through Apple.
10. Account Deletion
You can request account deletion in the Account screen. Deleting your account is intended to remove your Beacon account and app data tied to that account. Some information may remain in backups, logs, security records, payment records, moderation records, or legal records where retention is required or reasonably necessary.
11. Beacon's Intellectual Property
Beacon, including the app design, software, names, branding, content, features, and underlying technology, is owned by Beacon or its licensors and is protected by intellectual property laws. These Terms do not transfer ownership of Beacon's intellectual property to you.
You may use Beacon only as allowed by these Terms and applicable app store rules.
12. Third-Party Services
Beacon relies on third-party services such as Supabase, Anthropic, PostHog, RevenueCat, and Apple. Your use of Beacon may involve those services. We are not responsible for third-party services that we do not control, but we choose providers to help operate Beacon responsibly.
13. Service Changes
We may change, suspend, limit, or discontinue parts of Beacon at any time. We may also update features, eligibility, limits, subscriptions, pricing, or availability.
14. Termination
You may stop using Beacon at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access if we believe you violated these Terms, created risk for other users, abused the Service, or used Beacon unlawfully.
15. Disclaimers
Beacon is provided "as is" and "as available." To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, accuracy, availability, reliability, and security.
We do not guarantee that Beacon will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, or that AI outputs will be correct or helpful.
16. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Beacon and its operators, affiliates, service providers, and licensors will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost data, loss of goodwill, or service interruption.
Nothing in these Terms limits rights that cannot be limited under applicable consumer protection law.
17. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. If changes are material, we will take reasonable steps to notify users, such as updating the date above, posting an in-app notice, or sending an email. Continued use of Beacon after changes become effective means you accept the updated Terms.
